My name is Dean Heller. I am a practicing Interventional Cardiologist in Miami, FL. I have been in practice for over 10 years, and have been interested in technology and medicine for the past few years. With all of the changes in medicine over the past few decades, and the increasing stress on the physician-patient relationship, physicians will have to start to use technology to overcome these issues. I started VideoMD with this in mind, as a way for physicians to better educate their patients, without adding the time it would take to educate each patient indvidually.

VideoMD.com is a tool for physicians to better educate their patients. Doctors can upload videos directly to the site, then their own patients search for the doctor by name to view all of their videos. Videos can be a simple as an introduction to the doctors practice, or as complex as describing the risks and benefits of a complicated surgery. Since many physicians do not have a practice website, VideoMD can serve as the video health information portal for his/her patients. For doctors with a website, they can link from their website to VideoMD for video patient education that can be changed over time. One of the goals of VideoMD is to build the most comprehensive library of video health information on the web. Using the "best of" videos, we created the featured videos section to help educate the health information consumer on the web. All featured videos are checked by physicians for medical content. |
