| About Me: |
I'm a Costume Designer based in Los Angeles. I work on film, TV, and commercials. I love my profession, each project is like living a different life, never a dull moment. Each project is also like starting a mini business. Most people have no idea what our profession is about, and think that we only make cute sketches, or shop till we drop to dress our actors. The truth is that there is a lot of activities besides that, which are managing a staff of very creative people, being good in the money department to stay on budget, be an ambassador of your department with all the other departments working on the same project, being creative, organized, detailed oriented and on time and good PR. That is why I think it's like launching a mini business each project. I'm now designing a movie with 1920's, contemporary and Medieval costumes, my last film was contemporary, " Street Kings" starring Keannu Reeves and Forrest Whitaker. My background is fashion and jewelry design. I studied in Rome, Italy fashion and jewelry design, and worked there in the fashion industry until, a friend turned me into movie making. I fell in love with the process and that brought me to the US, where I have worked in the fashion and film industries since 1990. You can see my portfolio here I also write. In 2000 I wrote a screenplay called " A Second Chance", it won the Harley Merril International Screenwriting prize and was awarded at Cannes. It never got made, but it was a great ride. I like to read, cook, and paint, mostly oil. I was born in Mexico, and raised in a charming little town called Taxco, mostly known by its silver jewelry industry. I'm fluent in Spanish, English, French and Italian. I co-own a small bed and breakfast with my mother in our hometown, called Hotel Mi Casita |
