Direct mail is often a great way to sell your product. If you know the demographics and other traits of your ideal customer, you can use a rifle-shot approach, rather than a shotgun approach, to deliver the message to your potential market. The key to successful direct mail is to have a good product, a good offer, and a good mailing list. All of these require careful analysis.
Send your own mailings to lists of potential businesses or consumers. Review the wealth of information in Standard Rate and Data Service (SRDS) publications. Contact a mailing list broker to discuss possibilities. Consider advertising in relevant magazines and journals that your target market reads. Add your product to an existing product catalog. Add your product information to mailings sent by non-competing and compatible companies.
