Tip #9: Treat Your Business as a Franchise.
It is not by accident that most people who buy a franchise end up with a successful business, and that most people who start their own businesses do not succeed. Franchisors test and improve the best franchises through years of experience and mistakes, so that you won’t make those same mistakes.
Treat your business as if it were a franchise. Work "on" the business, not "in" the business. Work to produce a "turn-key" operation, developed over the years by a series of tests, successes and failures, and a good set of systems.
The successful turn-key business that you develop should almost run itself. Its success does not require the owner's actual presence. Visualize your business as you want it to be in the future. Do everything necessary to get to that point.
Chances are that you will never franchise your business. However, running it with the thought that it is a franchise dramatically increases the chance for your business' success and continÂued growth. Learn to systematize, organize, and delegate well.
