7 STEPS HEADER

< Back   Next Key: Clear Vision >

Passion is the one KEY that must be applied to all of the other KEYS of your business.  It should encompass everything you do.  Passion can manifest itself in many ways, such as ambition, drive, conviction, relentlessness, joy, care, concern, perfectionism and pride.

Most successful entrepreneurs did not set out to just make money.  They set out to do what they loved, and they became good at it.  Money is simply the residual effect of success.  This theory rings true:  If you love what you do, you are far more likely to become great at it and profit from that greatness.

Every business has obstacles and challenges to overcome.  Of course, some are more difficult than others.  Most businesses require a great deal of time, effort, commitment and patience.  This is not to say that starting and growing a business can’t be fun.  It can be very fun and fulfilling.  However, people who launch or buy a business just for the money will typically lack the commitment to see a project through.

It happens time and again, where a person has a great business idea, but the project falls apart when the work load increases, a friend criticizes the idea or a prospective partner says, “No.”  It is times like these when a passionate person will overcome these bumps in the road by driving onward.

Thomas Edison once said, "Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."

Passion for your business or project can mean the difference between success and failure.  What are your interests?  What are your skills?  Where do you recognize opportunities that match your unique personality?  What industries or interests are you most passionate about?

Hurdles, obstacles, roadblocks.  You bet!  A door closes, another door opens.  Distribution and opening the eyes of folks whose business it is to evaluate a product in an objective manner.  Maybe they just don't get the product or understand the operation.  Similar to the new electronic gadgets.  Parallel the new Sony device for portable play station.  This requires research in configuring your computer and getting the device to hand-shake the router.  Okay, but people in my opinion are lazy, and don't want to take the time to look at a different perspective and consider the advantages and disadvantages.  Its not rocket science but for those who feel that an expensive jet to travel from A to B is required when in fact you could fly yourself there and back if you only took the time to learn to fly.  I guess everyone has a comfort zone that prohibits them from reasoning and simply accepting life and its challenges.

Hello Fame:  I just joined the site and your post so resonated for me that I want to encourage you to stick with it.   Your passion is number one and eventually the rest will follow.  Keep putting the authentic and honest YOU into your posts whenever you feel like it and those who can relate and are drawn to help you will.  I don't know of an entrepreneur who has not faced many set-backs and even considered to be "crazy" by many so you are on the right path.  In a way I'm sort of where you are now in that I've spent all the resources I had on setting a foundation which included investing in me, knowledge, seminars, workshops.  The team, product, website, legal structure, even distribution is in place, just need to develop the prototype and OPPS I miscalculated and have to stablize financially.   Eventhough I've spent a couple decade in corporate it was with start-up divisions and tech-start-ups and this happens there too.  So my sense is the identity theft occured to slow you down for some reason.  Do you need to focus more on the financial side?  For me I'm having to completely re-evaluate how I "treat" money now before I can take off again.  This feels needed so that the company can thrive when it does take off.  My "mind-set" related to money needed to be adjusted and that is what is happening to me now.  So please look at the current situation as a learning experience which will make you a better entreprenuer and teacher later.  Hope this helps. You are welcome to contact me anytime.  Cindy@donellalloyd.com

In the video game business our biggest hurdle has been developing "timely" relationships with distributors so that we are able to have the same product as our competitors.

It took us a good seven months to do this and my advice to anyone getting into a retail business is to make sure that they develop great connections for having their products before they open for business.

We have had to spend alot of marketing dollars to get first time customers to come back and give us a second try because we really struggled with having "new release titles" on their release dates.

Since then our business has grown and thankfully we aren't having the lost sales that we did when we first opened.

The biggest hurdles I had to overcome were financial strains, non supporters, and believing in myself and my abilities.

hello my name is Fame Marqueet and i am looking for all the information i can get on how to start my own marketing business online. i am 26 yrs old, working a 9-5 & currently finishing up my degrees in Computer Programming,Business Administration and Web & multimedia(yes triple major it's exhausting). i am very passionate about my idea and already have many great talents to market just no clue where to start i have purchased many books but i feel as though information from people who have actually made it and are living their dreams would be more beneficial to me in my journey.i have written 3 business plans and i already have my vision set in stone with other ideas outside of online marketing. so my question is how do i go about getting funding for an online business or any of my other ideas with no assests and with being a victim of identity fraud currently working to fix my credit. i feel like there is no hope and no one who will help to support my ideas and dreams and this makes it hard to not give up.any advice would mean the world to me

I have been in business for myself since 1999.If you can stick it out it will be worth it. Your love ones and friends are the most negative people you will face. Most people don't want you to be successful, it remind them of the dreams they could not accomplish. Don't matter how long it takes, just finish the race.
