This is the Business Profile for kayburnett: Executive Summary
Double Shoe farm management has conducted both primary and secondary research into the Equine Industry market and has identified several underserved segments within it.
“Nonprofits have to recognize that they're businesses, not just causes. There's a way to combine the very best of the not-for-profit, philanthropic world with the very best of the for-profit, enterprising world. This hybrid is the wave of the future for both profit and nonprofit companies."From "Genius at Work" - an interview with Bill Strickland, CEO of the Manchester Craftsmen's Guild and the Bidwell Training Center Inc
(This is an approach that Double Shoe Farm LLC and Heavens Scent Equine and Animal Rescue Organization plan on taking, to show that it is possible for both nonprofits and for profits to work harmoniously together.)
In January, 2005 Kay F. Burnett, Founder, President, inventor/developer, has formed a company that will service the equine industry and provide humanitarian programs by providing the following: Rescue horses/animals from slaughter, cruel and inhumane conditions, and accept surrendered horses. Harvest and sell premium grade hay nationally. Build a Boarding and Horsemanship center that will host clinics, shows and events. Along with therapeutic riding, equine assisted psychotherapy service,. We will have overnight camping facility for travelers with equines and for those who brought their equine to the clinics that are longer than a day, or who wants to stay in one of our B&B or lodge rooms, and go trail riding in the beautiful country that was created for all to enjoy. To manufacture products for the equine and agriculture industries along with developing a service/product (non-disclosure agreement required for more details) for horses. This can be a global franchise named The Galloping Groomettes.
Persons involved in this business besides Kay Burnett, President, inventor/designer, are; Bruce Burnett, V.P., Secretary, and G.M. of the hay production, logistics manager. Arleen White, treasurer, tax accountant, Kathleen Kruger, VP of Galloping Groomettes, Administration Assistant, scheduling coordinator for other projects that require scheduling . Shannon Justice (Not confirmed as of this writing), G.M. of Heavens Scent Equine, and Animal Rescue Organization, equine message therapy manager/trainer. Thomas “TK” Kruger, manager /coordinator of campgrounds, and advertising special events being held. Manage Chuck Wagon catering, asst. to GM for Heavens Scent Rescue. Terrance “TJ” Murphy, Manager of hay production and hauling, Gary Floyd, equipment maintenance, hay transportation. Other potential members have shown an interest of coming on board once the funding has been secured for them to make a long-term commitment of being part of the organization.
As the inventor/designer for the Galloping Groomettes and other agriculture ideas/designs, DSF and The Galloping Groomettes manufacture the products and offer dealerships. These innovated ideas will have 100% of the market on these products. We will trademark and copyright our logos and products. With the equine industry contributing multi Billions annually to our economy, my products and services will open a whole new market area in an already established industry. My products and services are going to make a huge impact in this industry and the economy.
We will be a community outreach center for juvenile delinquents, children at risk, battered women, an outing with transportation available for the elderly who enjoy spending time with horses and younger people. Work with the school systems to help student work programs for the high school and college students, offer military appreciation/therapeutic programs for those who enjoy horses but unable to have one due to their traveling and post changes or are physically challenged due to injury from active duty. To offer a pilot program “soldiers helping soldiers” through therapeutic riding. Contracting with the government military bases in some areas that could support an equine facility, or a holding area for the horses that are brought to the base for the activities. This program can also lead to gaining government contracts. Cater corporate parties, weddings, semi annual or annual parties for the facilities boarders, and the shows/clinics in a Chuck Wagon theme where a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to Heavens Scent Equine and Animal Rescue Organization. The company is formed as a LLC, and the company is located presently in Windsor, VA...With members of Double Shoe Farm LLC (DSF) completing certification and degreed programs, will make it possible to save on insurance as noted below of the programs and advantages.
The gap in the amount of premium hay suppliers for equine owners seeking the product at an affordable price through out the US needs will be met by DSF ability to produce and deliver through out the country. With our hay being fresh, and stored out of the elements, our customers are sure to get the best quality hay for their equines and it will be weed free, which is very important to equine owners such as me. I find that since I have to purchase hay for my horses and am always finding weeds which in turn creates mold that can cause medical problems for the animals that consumes the hay plus infest your pastures with weeds. This is one of the reasons that we want to grow our own hay, and to increase our profit margin at our boarding facility, rescue facility, and make available to the public at competitive prices. By us growing the hay and having it available for all our animals that consume forage as part of their diet, will show a tremendous increase in our profit/ cash flow.
Our therapeutic riding will benefit those who are handicapped and unable to ride on their own. The EAP (equine assisted psychotherapy) will help those who have emotional and behavioral problems. Our grooming and spa services will benefit horse as well as rider.
The company is currently in the seed growth stage and expects to move rapidly towards further growth and profitability once we receive start-up financing for capital investment in both equipment and location procurement. We are seeking a benefactor or an angle/private investor. We would offer a equity ownership for the financing they will contribute.
Our equine, and animal rescue would fall under our “not for profit” program, and would provide our other services such as therapeutic riding, equine assisted psychotherapy, community service program for the juvenile delinquents, Senior Citizen activities, school work programs with horses that will be saved from slaughter, inhuman conditions, or surrender to us. We will be filing for tax exempt under 501©3, for both Colorado and Virginia ,to save animals from cruel and inhuman conditions, and help children at risk with our therapeutic programs. We will seek other tax advantages with our educational programs presently planned.
We will add an off campus class for veterinary medicine from CSU or a private school for the veterinary medicine and for Ferrier’s which both services are very important to our operation, and offer through grants and foundations a class room environment for our students who want to take the online courses in Equine studies.
We will encourage education in equine studies and human services and offer all our clients the ability to take online courses in a “class room” environment that will encourage a higher completion rate so that we can take advantage of the discounts in equine business insurance, as well as having a well trained associate added to our organization.
